The IX Pacific Alliance Summit will bring together presidents from Mexico (Enrique Peña Nieto), Peru (Ollanta Humal), Chile (Michelle Bachelet) and Colombia (Juan Manuel Santos) The meeting will be held in the Mexican State of Nayarit this June 19 – 20th of 2014.
The Summit Meeting organizers chose the state of Nayarit due to its international perspective and safety. Additionally the state government has been successful in promoting Mexico tourism throughout the world.
Governor Roberto Sandoval Castañeda stated that the state of Nayarit has grown into an international preferred tourist destination for vacation and investment. Additionally meetings have grown in the area of developing tourism in Latin American countries.
The Nayarit Governor stated “Again Nayarit will host an international event; this summit will greatly benefit tourism and economic development in Nayarit and other parts of Mexico. I thank our President, Enrique Peña Nieto and the leaders of the Pacific Alliance countries for setting their sights on our state, which you can be sure will offer them quality care and warmth.”
The Governor congratulated Enrique Peña Nieto, for his appointment as president pro tempore during the meeting in Nayarit. He will be guiding all the agreements made at the IX Pacific Alliance Summit.
The Summit will be preceded by meetings of the deputy ministers of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Tourism. These are the four countries of the block which push for free trade.
The Pacific Alliance was created in April of 2011. It has among its more ambitious plans a total relief in trade of goods and services between the four nations.
Nayarit hosted another event in February of this year of international importance. The Conference on the Humanitarian Impact of Nuclear Weapons organized by the UN where there were 140 countries participating.
