In Riviera Nayarit, professional servicing of a mini split AC is ideally done every 3 to 6 months, with more frequent attention the closer the outdoor unit is to the ocean due to salt air, high humidity, heat, and heavy use.
Recommended Schedule
Professional full service that includes, deep cleaning of coils/serpentines, chemical cleaning, drain line flush, refrigerant pressure check, electrical inspection, etc. Every 3 to 6 months if the outdoor unit is near the coast, exposed to salt spray, or used heavily, which we all know is very common in this climate.
Homeowner tasks which are critical and more frequent are cleaning or rinsing the indoor filters every 2 to 4 weeks during heavy use. The humidity makes dirt stick faster to the filter.
Gently rinse the outdoor condenser unit with fresh water monthly to remove salt deposits. Remember to power the unit off first and use low pressure only.
Check and clear if necessary clear the condensate drain line periodically to prevent clogs and leaks from high humidity.
