Taste of Lo de Marcos – 2023 Event Wrap up

I am not going to lie to you.  This year’s Taste event got off to an unusually slow start at in was at around 3.30 when the organizers huddled together and said OH NO, we have flopped. But as always the show must go on, so we all agreed to put our best attitude forward and move one.

It wasn’t 15 minutes later when the flood gates appeared to have opened and the Plaza started to fill with guests from all three entrances.  We all said NOW we can breathe a collective sigh of relief.

“All of the restaurants have such great offerings” said Mary Thompkins.  When asked what she thought of this year’s Annual Taste of Lo De Marcos. “This event never fails to impress.” said, Katrina Morris.

The entertainment as always was handpicked to perfection.

The opening act, Paty Maciel from Tepic was unbelievable.  With four languages under her belt and a wide variety of music to choose from, Paty was a hit.  With a voice like an angel, each song was sung with compassion and feeling.

We were approached by many people about scheduling a return engagement for this talented singer and while it is far too late for the current season, I think it is safe to say we have not heard the last of Paty as we set our sights on our benefit events for 2024.

The Folkloric Ballet TINTOC was simply beautiful.  The costumes, the choreography and the dancers were in perfect unison with each other.

Each of the food Vendors SOLD OUT with several making repeat runs to replenish supplies.

Two of the restaurants deserve a special Shout out.

**BACAN – For creating the best tasting burger in Lo de Marcos!

**Jardin Serein – When all of the food was sold out, the 25 members of the dance troupe went looking for food and when they could not find any.  Ana Karen Gonzalez, the Owner of Jardin Serein said “My restaurant is close. Let me go and whip something up to feed this talented group.”

Close to 500 people attended the Taste of Lo de Marcos event this past Sunday, February 19th in the Lo de Marcos town plaza.

This annual Fundraiser for Citizens Action Committee and Amigos De Lo de Marcos has become THE Party of the Season in the North Bay and all of the Event Organizers and Beneficiaries shout out a big Thank You to all of you who support this event. Together we all make it the success that it is.

The event is organized by Galván Real Estate and Services together with the support of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB), via the Nayarit Tourism Promotion Trust (Fiprotur).

Armando Contreras who in addition to running Galvan Real Estate is the current President of Amigos de lo de Marcos and he summed the entire event up well when he stated: “It brings me such joy to see so many people supporting this charitable event. When a community unites, all is possible.”
