Vacation to Guadalajra and Tepic – Summer 2024

Posted by AdminGalvan on June 17, 2024

Our annual big vacation has been planned and in the works for several months now and I cannot tell you in the two week leading up to hopping in the car and getting on the road did we think we were going to have to cancel or reschedule our trip.   There we so many people wanting to Sell or to Buy it was really hard to disconnect and getaway.

Luckily we left a great team in place who are trained and adept to handling anything so we forwarded my cell calls to the office number and away we went.

Wanting Air Conditioning in the car that worked at peak performance, we opted to rent a car from National Car Rental with whom we have a convenio with special rates —

The new Autopista from here to Guadalajara is amazing.  From our home in Lo de Marcos, we made it to Guadalajara in just 1 hour and 50 minutes. We think it was in part due to the sleek car we rented! Then it took another 30 minutes to reach our hotel, The Camino Real.

Take a look at their website here –

Camino Real Guadalajara is a 5 star hotel, very close to the Gran Plaza Fashion Mall, which is one of the biggest and most important shopping malls of the city. I don’t have any grasp on how many stores are in this mall but my recommendation is to allow two days to see it all and to bring a high limit credit card for all of your purchases.

The architectural design of this horizontal Hotel complex, unique in its category, it is the work of Luis Martínez Negrete, the planning of the space is based on the use of wide green areas. With an extension of 40,000 square meters, with 3 hectares of gardens, 4 pools and tennis court that give guests the opportunity of feeling in a natural atmosphere. This is one amazingly large and beautiful property.

After 4 days in the City visiting the plazas, the malls, touring in the car to out of the way places, lots of great meals and just a few cocktails, we realized it was time to leave and go onto Tepic.

One the way we had to stop in Tequila to see the town plaza and to grab a few souvenirs.   The town is loaded with contagious energy or maybe it’s a Tequila buzz! Either way it’s a fun place to spend a few hours or a night.

Those of you who know us, know that Tepic has always been our GO TO destination whether it is for business or relaxation, Tepic checks all the boxes.

Our go to Hotel is Hotel La Loma which is a 4-star garden style hotel with 47 rooms and several suites.

Our suite of choice for many years has been #35 with a Living Room, Dining Room, and Bedroom with sitting area, two complete baths and a wonderful outside patio to watch the passersby as they go.  The price is one of the best we have found at $2150.00 pesos per night.

The hotel has a full service restaurant and bar that offer service delivered directly to your room.

At night, the front gates to the Hotel are closed and with on duty Security, you don’t have a thing to worry about.  Sleep well!

The Hotel is located directly across the street from the historic Parque La Loma which is one of the most emblematic places in the capital Nayarit.  In Tepic, a day of rest is synonymous with a must-see visit to this beautiful heart of the city.

The parque is very large and expansive area with abundant vegetation, mainly pines, eucalyptus and numerous gardens, considered the most important and traditional park in the state. Among its facilities we can mention sports fields, an Olympic pool, amusement rides, a soda fountain, open-air theaters, a charro canvas, monuments to famous people and a library, some of which are in poor condition due to lack of maintenance and some of which are in use.

The Tepic Cathedral and main Plaza is just a short Uber Ride away!

As the Capital of the State, Tepic has everything you could desire so it’s easy to spend a week here and not know where the time went.

For a wonderful 7 day vacation, I can recommend first hand a holiday combination of Tepic and Guadalajara.
