CHILI COOKOFF – WHAT AN AFTERNOON

The First Annual Chili Cookoff was attended by over 150 people this past Saturday afternoon in beautiful Lo de Marcos.

A talent show organized by Nancy McKenna, a seasonal town resident, featured Northern Lights Tribal Dancers from Sayulita, 10 year old Eduardo Bahena Parra, who serenaded us with La Mochila Azul, the now infamous Chili Pepper Eating Contest and 3 Dancing Horses.  The Dancing Horses stole the show!

The voting for the best Chili was conducted via a popular vote with each attendee

having their say.  The selection process was a difficult one with 10 different and unique chilis from which to decide.  After a 2.5 hour tasting process the following Chili Cookoff winners were announced –

First Place – Pierre Pellicer, who was sponsored by Cruz Maria RV Park

Second Place – Linda Stone, who was sponsored by Tres Iguanas RV Park

Third Place – Lee-Ann Hough

This Benefit for The San Marcos Evangelista Church, raised $4662.00 pesos.   To make it an even $5000.00 pesos donation, Galvan added the final touch of $338.00 pesos. The donation will be presented to Padre Pio at the next Fundraiser for the Church, which will be held on March 10th in the Town Plaza.

The event, well supported with attendees from all corners of the Village, was another success for Lo de Marcos!  The First Annual and certainly not the last!

The Chili Cookoff was organized and sponsored by Galvan Real Estate and Services as part of its Social Responsibility Program.  To read the details on the program, click here https://www.galvanrealestateandservices.com/about/social-responsibility/
