Covid-19 Update – From the desk of Armando Contreras
Well folks, I knew the charm of Lo de Marcos could do nothing to save us from the virus. We were however able to stall it for a good while!
We are hearing of confirmed cases in our neighboring towns! It was inevitable and now we have to deal with it.
I know that in town everyone has really gotten good at Social Distancing but in general our wearing of masks is way down. Put your masks on folks please!
A reminder that each household should select one person to do the shopping and the running of errands. The less overall exposure each household has the better.
A few days ago the Disinfectant Brigade was in town to spray our community’s common areas. I understand that this will become a regular occurrence.
I continue to be optimistic that if we all play our A game while taking care of ourselves and being mindful of our surroundings and actions that we can overcome the virus.
We are blessed to be a smaller community that is somewhat off the beaten path and that, as is the case in all of Nayarit, our beaches remain closed, and hotels and restaurants are held to a maximum occupancy of 30%.
Here is an updated link that we originally published in late April to let you know where to shop and who is open during these times — https://www.galvanrealestateandservices.com/where-to-shop-and-eat-in-lo-de-marcos-during-the-covid-19-virus-crisis/
I urge you to stay vigilant and stay safe.
It’s with confidence that I say this will pass and I look forward to seeing many of you next season. Okay, we will have to figure out a way to perfect virtual hugging and handshakes but we are a smart bunch and have faced greater challenges.
To keep us all entertained no matter where we are, I checked the New York Times Best Seller list and these are the top five books to read right now.
For all you bibliophiles out there, can you let me know which I should read, as it looks like I will have a bit more quarantine time on my hands for now?
Best Sellers, according to the New York Times.

Thanks for the update and your continued leadership Armando. I hold Lo De Marcos close in my thoughts and dreams every day and I look forward to the day when we can all return.
Thank you Scott. We will get through this and we will see you all again! In the meantime stay safe!
Hola Armando,
Thank you for mentioning how important it is to wear a mask when out of the house. I have been wearing my mask when I leave town but now I am wearing g my mask in town as well.
I’ve read many books by John Grisham and they are always entertaining.
Thank you, Armando! I don’t know what I’d do with myself this winter if our favourite village was not safe to visit! Also, for the sake of everyone; resident or visitor, I sincerely hope the masks continue to be worn.
We really hope to get through this soon but the reallity is that we have to get used to the “New normal” and continue with our lifes taking care of ourselves washing hands more often, using masks and trying to keep a healthy life. For now we are doing these already!
🙂 See you soon!
Armando, Cheryl and I have listened to Camino Winds, it’s a sequel to Camino Island, The Guardian and Where the Crawdads Sing. All are very good and I am sure you will enjoy them. Cheryl and VJ
Thank you Valorien! I’m sure it will be a great reading then.
