Tropical Musings from Paradise April 2020 Edition

It’s an odd time in Riviera Nayarit right now with the Covid 19 Virus affecting us directly along with the rest of the world.

Let us not pull back but instead move forward with cautious optimism. As a long time promoter of the beautiful Riviera Nayarit, it is with sadness that I see the devastation this virus is causing both here and on Foreign Shores. It will be years before our global economy can bounce back. I’m not even sure it will bounce back to where we were… maybe we will have to pull together, and determine what is the New Normal.

With all of this said, at Galvan Real Estate and Services, there are some difficult decisions ahead of us, however we intend to celebrate our 7th Anniversary in 2020!

A special thanks to each one of you for the part you have played and will continue to play in our continued success!

Real Estate in Riviera Nayarit

You have visited Riviera Nayarit two or three times and you have been bitten! You have fallen in love with the area, the climate, the culture and the people and you are thinking that the time is right to invest in Real Estate.

The first question that comes to mind will be – Can I, as a Foreigner, legally own a property in Mexico??

The answer is YES.

Outside the Restricted Zone, a foreigner or foreign corporation can purchase any type of Real Estate, holding the property as a direct owner in accordance with Mexican Law.

Within The Restricted Zone, the Mexican Constitution regulates ownership of the land and establishes that “In a zone of 100 kilometers (about 62 miles) along the border or 50 kilometers (about 31 miles) along the coast, a foreigner cannot acquire the direct ownership of the land”. These areas are known as the “Restricted or Prohibited Zones”.

Day Tripping to San Blas

San Blas is located 62 km northwest of Tepic, the capital of the state of Nayarit, in the coastal region of the Pacific Ocean. It has a pleasant tropical climate and an average annual temperature of 22º C. It is a site whose natural beauty frames a great cultural heritage, the result of its history with pirate expeditions, colonial conquests and victorious encounters for the Independence of Mexico. As part of its attractions, San Blas has lonely beaches with calm waters and gentle waves, exuberant tropical jungle vegetation, abundant population of birds, high-level tourist services and facilities and panoramic views that make it the perfect setting for a summer vacation dream.

It is also the ideal destination for travelers looking to venture into less explored regions and enjoy certain unspoiled areas that still enjoy unimaginable tranquility and natural beauty. San Blas invites its visitors to enjoy its peaceful surroundings, created by the typical atmosphere of fishing villages with few inhabitants, which are also dedicated to tourism and agriculture. In San Blas you can enjoy the facilities of any beach destination, however, it retains the touch and color of the townsWhen visiting San Blas, La Tovara is a must see! La Tovara is a spring located in the municipality of San Blas Nayarit in the state of Nayarit (Mexico), which gives rise to a natural freshwater pond in the middle of an estuary at the base of a mountain range. The area is very extensive and is full of natural channels through the jungle that flow into Matanchén Bay in the Pacific Ocean. The vegetation is lush and full of tropical plants, among which the giant ferns and mangroves stand out, and a diverse fauna that includes crocodiles, turtles, jaguars, ocelots, armadillos, and a great variety of birds and fish.
